Using Norton Antivirus Software

Many people install antivirus software on their computers and forget about it, but you should actually use your software on a daily basis to give you the best protection.  We are going to show you here how you how and when to use your software.  In this case we are going to use Norton Antivirus software.

When you have your software installed you should have an icon on your desktop and there should also be an option for it on your main programs menu which can be accessed through the start button.

Click on the program to run it and you should have a screen similiar to the one below:

On the right hand column of the screen all the settings should be set to on, if they are switched off for any reason just click on them and this should switch them back on again.

Once a day click on the Run Liveupdate option that is highlighted above whilst connected to the Internet, this will download the most up to date updates for your system.

Once a week (and you do not need to be connected to the Internet to do this) click on the Scan Now button below.  Then select Run Full System Scan.  This will then check your computer for viruses infections.

Please note if you do not for example run the Run Liveupdate option for two weeks, then your full system scan will only check for viruses as of two weeks ago.
